Servicing and cleaning

Clean panels deliver what you were promised.

Dust, pollen, moss, droppings: a dirty installation produces less, and an overgrown roof ages faster. Ecolive cleans panels, roofs, facades, terraces and driveways with a soft brush and osmosis water, with no harsh products and no pressure washing on fragile surfaces.

Why it matters

Output drifts away quietly, without anyone noticing.

A solar installation does not break down overnight: it simply produces a little less each year. A film of dust, a layer of pollen in spring, moss settling along the bottom of the panels, and the curve drops without a single warning light coming on.

The same logic applies to the roof: thick moss holds damp against the tiles, speeds up the freeze and thaw cycle, and eventually costs a full replacement instead of a clean.

Production monitoring proves it

On an installation with monitoring, the gain is readable before and after the visit. No estimates: figures.

A maintained roof lasts longer

Regular moss removal pushes back by several years the moment the covering has to be redone.

A visual check included

While we are up there we spot a displaced tile, a tired flashing or a mounting that has moved, and we tell you.

Nothing harmful for the garden

Demineralised water and suitable brushes: nothing runs off towards your planting or your water butts.

What we clean

Four surfaces, one method that respects the material.

The same water, but not the same pressure or the same brush depending on what is in front of us.

Solar panels

Soft brush on a telescopic pole and an osmosis water rinse: no scratches, no limescale marks, output recovered. Never pressure washing.

Roofs and tiles

Moss removal, cleaning of tiles and slates, clearing the gutters, preventive treatment where the situation calls for it.

Facades and cladding

Low pressure cleaning suited to render, stone, brick or timber, without stripping the surface.

Terraces and driveways

Blue stone, concrete, paving, pavements and garage driveways, cleaned without products that harm the garden.

The right moment

In spring after the pollen, or in autumn before winter.

In spring, pollen and the first dust form the most costly film, just before the season when panels produce the most: that is the visit that pays best. In autumn, leaves and moss come off before the frost fixes them for the winter.

For an installation with monitoring there is an even simpler rule: look at the curve. When output drops compared with previous years at the same period, cleaning becomes worth it.

  • Annual or half-yearly contract depending on the surroundings
  • Visit planned around the weather
  • Report with before and after photographs
  • Any problem spotted is reported to you

How it works

A clean, in six steps.

  1. Quote from photos

Send a few photos of the surfaces concerned: free quote with no commitment, and no pointless journey.

  2. Planning

Appointment set around your availability and around the weather, because we do not clean in rain or hard frost.

  3. Protection and access

Telescopic pole from the ground where possible, proper height safety where it is not.

  4. Gentle cleaning

Brushes matched to the material, no harmful products, never pressure washing on panels.

  5. Osmosis water rinse

Demineralised water: it dries without a single streak or limescale deposit.

  6. Check and report

Visual inspection of the installation, before and after photographs, any problem reported.

While we are on the roof

A clean is also a free inspection.

Our teams fit panels and renovate roofs all year round. When they go up for a clean, they see what a cleaner would not: a mounting that has shifted, a tired flashing, a tile that has slipped, a cable poorly secured. You know about it before it becomes a problem.

Frequently asked questions

Servicing: what people ask us.

Why have solar panels cleaned?

Dust, pollen, moss and bird droppings form a film that cuts the light reaching the cells, and therefore the output. Rain washes off most of it on a well-pitched roof, but not sticky deposits or the moss that settles at the bottom of the panels. Production monitoring shows the gain before and after.

How often should panels be cleaned?

Once or twice a year depending on the surroundings: nearby trees, cultivated fields, a busy road or livestock. An installation in open countryside gets dirty faster than people expect.

Does pressure washing damage panels?

Yes, and it must be avoided on panels: high pressure can force water into the seals and create invisible ingress that shows up years later. We work with a soft brush and osmosis water, with no product.

Do you clean roofs and facades too?

Yes: moss removal and cleaning of tiled or slated roofs, facades and cladding, terraces, yards, driveways and pavements. The method is matched to the material every time. If the covering is at the end of its life we will tell you rather than clean it for nothing: see roof renovation.

How do I get a price?
