Do solar panels produce anything in Wallonia, with our climate?
Yes. Panels work from light, not from heat: they produce on overcast days too, less in winter and more from April to September. Ecolive's free sunlight survey estimates the annual output of your roof from its orientation, its pitch and the shading.
Is my roof suitable for solar panels?
South facing is ideal, but east-west roofs work very well and spread production across the day. The condition of the covering matters as much as the orientation: if the roof has to be renovated within ten years, it is better to do that first. Ecolive does both trades and will tell you honestly during the visit.
How long does a solar installation take?
Fitting on a detached house usually takes a day. Connection and commissioning follow according to the grid operator's lead times. Panels are built to produce for decades and manufacturers normally guarantee their output for 25 years.
What guarantees come with a solar installation?
Panels are guaranteed for 25 years. The inverter, the battery and the labour are guaranteed for 10 years. Manufacturer warranties are handed over with the quote and the invoice.
Do solar panels need maintenance?
Very little: rain does most of the work. Ecolive offers remote production monitoring, preventive maintenance and component replacement where needed, so the system delivers what was planned.
Can panels be combined with a heat pump?
That is the most interesting combination: the heat pump runs on the electricity the panels produce, which raises self-consumption and cuts the heating bill. Ecolive sizes both systems together. See our heat pumps.
Do I need a battery with solar panels?
Without a battery, the midday surplus goes to the grid and is bought back for much less than the electricity you buy in the evening. A battery stores that surplus for the evening and cuts what you take from the grid. We size it on your real consumption, during the visit, and we can add it to an existing installation. What support is available for solar in Wallonia?
